UPDATE: One accused city police are investigating multiple shootings | News, Sports, Jobs

A Jamestown man has been charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon as Jamestown police continue their investigation into three shootings on Friday and Saturday.

The first incident happened early Friday morning. The victim of that incident was at a downtown establishment and had a confrontation with another person after leaving. The victim was transported to an out-of-town hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Then, later Friday, Jamestown patrol officers responded to the 800 block of Prendergast Avenue for a report of a shooting victim with minor injuries. The person was treated and released with non-life threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Around 1 a.m., city police officers responded to Victoria Avenue Saturday for another report of a shooting complaint in which a person was taken to an out-of-town hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Following the third investigation, Juan A. Tufino Jr., 33, of Jamestown, was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun. He was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and taken to the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment.

“Investigations into all of these incidents are ongoing,” the Jamestown Police Department said in a news release Saturday. “All incidents are believed to be targeted incidents where the offender knew the victim.”

Jamestown police have not yet released the names of any of the shooting victims.

Anyone with information about any of these incidents is asked to contact the Jamestown Police Department at 716-483-7537 or the confidential tip line at 716-483-TIPS (8477).
