Separate overnight crashes leave 2 pedestrians dead in Phoenix

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Two pedestrians are dead following overnight car crashes in Phoenix.

Just before 9:30 pm on Friday, police responded to a crash near 67th Avenue and Indian School Road. When officers arrived, they found a woman on the road.

She was transported to the hospital, where she later died. The driver remained at the scene, and no signs of impairment were detected.

Hours later, at 1:45 am, police responded to another crash near 40th and Oak streets. Officers found a man with “obvious injuries” in the road. He was hospitalized but later died from his injuries.

Police said the driver fled the scene before they arrived. No description of the suspect’s vehicle has been released.

Detectives are still investigating what led up to both these crashes.
