Game day! Follow stats, scores and play-by-play from Chiefs vs. Lions in the NFL preseason

The Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions will kick off at 3:00 PM Central Saturday at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

Today’s game will be broadcast locally on KSHB 41 (NBC) in Kansas City and NFL Network/NFL+ for national audiences. In Wichita, the game will be shown on KWCH (Channel 12).

You can also listen on the radio via KFNZ (96.5 FM) and WDAF (106.5 FM) in the KC area and KNSS (98.7 FM) in Wichita.

Three stories for Chiefs vs Lions

Specifically, will we see Patrick Mahomes hook up with rookie speedster Xavier Worthy? The NFL Combine 40-yard record holder could be in line for additional work early after an injury suffered by Hollywood Brown in the first preseason game.

Also of note: Justyn Ross is pushing for a roster spot after a productive camp. Receivers are definitely a position to watch.

Andy Reid said this week that he expects the two to play the first half, but history says you can usually take Reid’s projection and cut it in half. Like, the ones ready to play the first quarter of the first preseason game … and Mahomes didn’t even make it five minutes.

You’re not going to learn a lot from the preseason, especially with a team like the Chiefs. But Carson Steele continues to be a name to watch, and he appeared again at our pregame writers’ roundtable. The star of the preseason opener, Steele is spending more time with the starters and could help solidify KC’s running back position…if he can continue to put up good days.
