San Diego State and Cal men’s basketball will play just once in December as part of the 2024 San Jose Tip-Off at the SAP Center in San Jose.

The Dec. 21 matchup, announced Thursday, is the return game for a neutral-site contest last season, the SoCal Showcase, at the Pavilion in San Juan Capistrano. The Aztecs won in overtime, 76-67. Reese Waters scored a career-high 24 points in the game and grabbed seven rebounds to be named the showcase MVP.

Oregon and Stanford will also be part of the Tip-Off.

The December game will be the 15th in the series, with the Aztecs holding an 8-6 overall advantage. In the last seven meetings, SDSU is 5-2 against UC Berkeley.

San Diego State is one of six programs to play at least 20 neutral games over the past two seasons, posting a 15-6 (.714) record, third best in the nation behind only Connecticut (22-1 ). and Purdue (18-3).

In 2023-24 under first-year head coach Mark Madsen, Cal won 10 more games than the previous season, but the team went 0-8 in neutral-site games over the last two campaigns.

On August 1, the Golden Bears joined the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), a league whose teams hold a 23-14 all-time series lead against San Diego State.

Fans can register for presale access by visiting the SAP Center online. Broadcast partner for the game and start time to be announced at a later date.
