Tim Walz is rallying Nebraskans in the Omaha metro area on Saturday

Just before the Democratic National Convention, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is visiting his home state of Nebraska for a rally in metro Omaha.

Walz, who presidential candidate Kamala Harris announced as her vice presidential pick earlier this month, is a native Nebraskan who spent the first half of her life in the state.

During Walz’s brief time on the national stage, both the Harris campaign and the media highlighted the rural Cornhusker roots of the 60-year-old vice presidential candidate.

The World-Herald will keep you updated on his visit throughout the day here.

Where is Tim Walz’s rally in Nebraska?

While the campaign and many others said the rally would be in Omaha, the venue is actually at the Astro in nearby La Vista.

The event was listed from 1pm to 4pm, but by 9.30am some people were already lining up to get in.

The campaign asked attendees to RSVP to the event, but noted online: “This RSVP is required for the event but does not guarantee admission.” The event was said to be at capacity well before Saturday.
