Move-in day for MSUM students

MOORHEAD, Minn. (Valley News Live) – It’s welcome week at Minnesota State University. Moorhead and freshmen move into their dorms Thursday.

The Dragon Welcome team, including faculty, staff, students and alumni, will help students move into residence halls from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on August 22, followed by Welcome Week to help new students familiarize themselves with campus, meet new friends and make a smooth transition into college life. “I think it’s super important. It’s really fulfilling and rewarding for me to help these incoming freshmen get over the first-year jitters, especially on the first day, because it’s like, I don’t have my mom here, I don’t have anybody here and i need help So to be there and help them, it makes me feel super fulfilled,” said Maddie Stuvland, senior member of the Dragon Welcome team.

MSUM President Tim Downs will formally welcome the students to the CMU Ballroom at 4:45 p.m., Thursday. Convocation takes place Friday from 10:00-10:30 a.m., when faculty and staff welcome students in a procession to the Center for the Arts Hansen Theater.

Students can take part in a campus-wide scavenger hunt on Friday, August 23 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Classes start on Monday, August 26.
