NEPSE goes down by 36.83 points; daily turnover falls to Rs 12.24 billion – myRepublica

KATHMANDU, Aug 29: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday fell 36.83 points to close at 2,749.57 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,786.40 points and rose about 14 points in the first minute. In the next two hours or so, the index went into a straight decline and hit the low of the day at 2,728.05 points. The market recovered around 21 points in the remaining period before closing for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of “A” class companies, also fell by 8.35 points. Daily turnover further declined to Rs 12.24 billion from Rs 13.72 billion on Wednesday.

Among individual companies, 53 were recorded as winners, while 188 were losers.

Of the 13 groups, mutual funds adding 0.02 points to its index were the only gainers. Among the losers, life insurance fell 288.81 points. Non-life insurance, hotels and tourism and microfinance indices fell by triple digits.

Goodwill Finance Limited had the highest share turnover of Rs 376.55 crore. Three Star Hydropower Limited was the top loser while Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower Limited was recorded as the top gainer.
