Trader Joe’s parking lot in North Naples can be difficult to navigate

PLAYA

Our growth and development reporter Phil Fernandez identified a major parking lot pain point for Collier County residents in a recent column he wrote.

Someone called the Trader Joe’s Parking “the most frustrating parking lot in Naples.” The grocery store, located at 10600 Tamiami Trail, in North Naples, is wildly popular but parking there is not.

Sharon Lambert said: “It’s horrible! Traffic will be a nightmare when the season gets here.”

Rose AH said: “Aggressive drivers need to lighten up in that lot before someone gets hit. It’s Trader Joe’s, not the ER. Calm down…”

Barbara Evans said: “I have been in Trader Joe’s all over America and I’m here to tell you that all of their parking lots are a nightmare! It’s crazy!”

Tom Cormie said: “Dear god, it’s a nightmare at 8am in the off season.”

Kerri Toloczko said: “Agreed. We love Trader Joe’s, but we don’t go as often as we like solely because of the parking, and the pain it is to even get in and out.”

Kay Dillon said: “Who approved the parking lot design in the first place? The planning board and code officials are to blame. Tj’s has a lease that I am sure they just cannot walk away from. So there’s that.”

Naomi Steves said: “What you guys are missing is that this is how every Trader Joe’s is. Their entire business model is a small footprint store. They will not move into a larger space, or one with more parking. They don’t want a swamped store. They want a neighborhood market feel with a limited crowd. What we need is more TJ’s so everyone stops crowding the same store. Oh, and fill that Lucky’s spot with Lucky’s. I miss that store terribly and wish it would magically reappear.”

Arie Bolshem said: “It’s a great location. Leave it where it is. All busy places have the same parking situation.”

Victoria Romero said: “That parking lot is a headache and a half.”

Karen Conigliaro said: “I talked to management several years ago about contacting corporate to look at the Greentree plaza in the vacant Sweetbay spot which has been vacant for years. The parking is great and easy and it’s easy to get in and out of the plaza. I guess they didn’t want to hear it. I hardly ever go there because of the parking.”

Some people offered solutions:

Jim Meehan said: “Move it to the vacant Sweet Bay store at Greentree shopping Center, Immokalee and Airport.”

Jayne Baldwin said: “Love the idea of them moving to what was to be Lucky’s on Wiggon’s Pass rd.”

Morgue C Sheila: “Move it to the lot where the empty Bed, Bath and Beyond sits on Airport P & Pine Ridge.”

Rose Scardigli said: “Move it to Bonita. Big Lots is closing.”
