Brooke Shields’ daughters react to mom being kissed by ‘Pretty Baby’ co-stars twice her age

Many celebrities like Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have confessed that their children refuse to watch some of their biggest hits.

It seems that Brook Shields’ daughters Rowan and Grier feel the same way about one of her most popular yet highly controversial films “Pretty Baby,” and honestly it’s for good reason.

In the 1978 historical drama, Shields, now 59, portrayed a 12-year-old girl who was raised in a New Orleans brothel and forced into sex.

Public outrage over “Pretty Baby” persisted after its release because it contained several inappropriate scenes, including Shields’ character auctioning off her virginity at a brothel and a scene in which she appears completely nude.

“I don’t like this movie,” Grier, 18, told People in an interview published Thursday. “I’ve seen enough on TikTok. I’d rather not look at my mother sold as an 11-year-old prostitute. I prefer to watch the funny and happy ones.”

Grier shared her complaints about another scene in the film, in which her mother shares a kiss with her older co-star Keith Carradine, who was 27 at the time.

“It’s strange. She had to kiss someone (over) twice her size,” Grier noted, while Rowan, 21, claimed that “their mom’s stage kiss doesn’t count as a kiss true”.

Shields then explained to Rowan that her co-star shared the same sentiment at the time.

“He told me it didn’t count (as a first kiss), which was really sweet,” she recalled of Carradine. “He was probably struggling too.”

Rowan went on to say that she doesn’t “purposely avoid” following her mother’s projects.

“I guess it never occurred to me to say, ‘Movie night, let’s watch Pretty Baby.’ I’m either watching Love Island or a new movie like Minions or Despicable Me. It’s not like I’m purposely avoiding looking at my mom. I liked ‘Mother of the Bride’ and ‘Castle at Christmas,’” she explained, listing some of her mother’s Netflix romantic comedies.

Despite her kids’ opinions on ‘Pretty Baby’, the ‘Sahara’ actress explained why she thinks the film is ‘the best’.

“You know what’s crazy, this is the best movie I’ve ever been in,” she said in the video. “Like, he won the Palme d’Or. Like, it was the most cinematically beautiful.”
