Looking back at Artem Chigvintsev’s Dancing With the Stars history

Artem Tsygvintsev it was a staple Dancing with the stars since 2014.

Artem, who previously won those in Great Britain Strictly Come Dancing with Kara Tontonwas originally selected to join DWTS band for season 18. The following year, he was tasked with teaching Back to the future star Leah Thompson how to dance

“I liked it,” Artem continued Good morning America in 2014 after their elimination. “Plus, having Lea as my partner was just phenomenal. I loved every minute of it (and) it’s a shame it’s over.”

According to Leah, her teacher made the trip a “great experience.”

“We had fun together,” she said. “Sometimes they didn’t show it in packages — they kind of made us fight all the time — (but) we were always laughing and having a great time. He is an extraordinary choreographer. Because it was his first time on the show, he did amazing.”

Artem and the actress finished in sixth place. In successive seasons, Artem was constantly asked back as a professional. Season 25 was actually how he met his now retired fighter wife Nikki Garciathree years before he won his first mirrorball trophy.

Season 19: Lea Thompson

Placement: Sixth

Artem and Lea danced together every week except one, when the show introduced “Switch-Up Week”. The Russian native has been re-partnered Pretty little liars alum Janelle Parrish for a steamy burlesque number. Lea, meanwhile, did a jazz routine with Janel’s partner, Val Chmerkovskiy. In rehearsal filming, Lea and Val became jealous on the steamy show.

Season 20: Patti LaBelle

Placement: eighth

For Artem’s second season, he was paired with the legendary singer. In week 4, Artem asked to do “more” real dance moves, which received very good reviews.

“This is getting out of hand,” the judge Carrie Ann Inaba gushed during the episode. “Your legs are fierce!”

Season 22: Mischa Barton

Placement: eleventh

OC alum and Artem didn’t last long in season 22, battling illnesses during the process.

“We’ve both been sick since last week, which hasn’t been great, so on antibiotics, trying to get through the dance, through our cha and stay positive,” Barton said. Us and other reporters in February 2018. “You have five days to learn and get through, and when you don’t feel 100 percent since the last dance, (it’s tough). I feel like this whole week has been invigorating me and maybe now is the time to attack it with positivity.”

Season 23: Maureen McCormick

Placement: eighth

During his season with The Brady Bunch alum, they approached. In a clip from the October 2017 premiere, McCormick gushed about his look.

“First impression of Artem? Well, hot!” she joked. “Really cute. Wow, the body! I mean all these people’s bodies scare me. I hope I just want to be an open, blank canvas for them to paint on. I’ll do whatever you want, Artem.

Season 24: Nancy Kerrigan

Placement: Seventh

Artem collaborated with the figure skater, who frequently gushed about their performances on social media.

“Had a blast at my first #DWTS performance with @artemchigvintse,” Kerrigan tweeted in March 2017. “Thank you all for your support and here’s to many more!”

Season 25: Nikki Garcia

Placement: Seventh

A year after the show, Nikki broke up with fiancé John Cena and Artem contacted her to check on the athlete. The pair eventually started dating, marrying in 2022, two years after welcoming son Matteo.

While Artem continued to shoot seasons of dwts, Nikki stayed with Matteo in Napa Valley, California, which often caused friction.

“I’d be lying to say, ‘Oh, it’s great.’ It was definitely a struggle for us,” Nikki exclusively said We weekly in November 2021. “It’s hard. We have so many ups and downs. It’s been so difficult for our relationship because I need so much from him, but he’s, like, torn between his job that requires so much from him and then us at home.”

She added: “After Dancewe’re going to start couple classes because we realized we both feel like we’re not listening to each other. … Finally, we both said, like, ‘We’ve got to get somebody to help us so we don’t end up (back) in that place.’

Season 26: Jamie Anderson

Placement: tenth

Artem was associated with the skier in the season for all athletes DWTS.

Season 27: Danielle Umstead

Placement: twelfth

The Paralympic champion was the first blind competitor to appear DWTS. In September 2018, said Artem Go to Hollywood that his teaching process for Danielle was “trial and error.”

“You really have to be there for her,” he said. “When the music comes on, I’m constantly like, ‘Are you okay?’ Shall we do this?”

Danielle also brought her guide dog to every workout.

Season 29: Kaitlyn Bristowe

Placement: Winner

Kaitlyn exclusively said Us in 2022 that he is no longer in touch with Artem.

“I haven’t really spoken to him, which is kind of sad. I don’t know. Is this seat taken. He dances every day,” she recalled. “She has a cute little boy at home and she just got married, which I was so excited for them.”

A year later, Kaitlyn warned a man bachelor alum Charity Lawson that many of the men DWTS the pros were “d–ks”.

“(Kaitlyn) told me to have a lot of patience — which I have — but also that he’s such a great teacher and I’m going to learn so much and I already have,” Charity said. Us in September 2023.

Artem, meanwhile, bore no ill will toward Kaitlyn.

“Look, it’s all with good intent,” he said Us. “Because I know that sometimes when we have somebody that has a lot of potential, you want to get them out. It worked for Kaitlyn – she won the mirrorball trophy.”

Season 30: Melora Hardin

Placement: Sixth

The Office alum said Us in September 2021 about the hours they put into rehearsals.

“I am a hard worker and so is Artem. So we both work hard and work well together,” Melora said. “We’re both really (very) determined. But I can’t sleep very well because I do the dance in my head every night. It’s hard trying to figure out the rhythm. … The very moment you get it, you have to learn something new that you never had before.”

Season 31: Heidi D’Amelio

Placement: eighth

Artem taught the TikTok star Charlie D’Ameliohis mother how to groove, where they bumped into her daughter head to head. (Charli and partner Mark Ballas in the end he won.) At one point, Heidi was ready to throw in the towel, but she didn’t inform Artem of her plans.

“I had no idea he was quitting,” he said Us and other reporters in September 2022. “I said, ‘What?’ … Honestly (I found out) when they were talking to (hostess) Alfonso (Ribiero) and I said, “Should I say something? Shouldn’t it? … (I decided) I will ask her after that.”

According to Heidi, she was struggling with “self-doubt” but chose to continue the competition.

Season 32: Charity Lawson

Placement: fourth

Artem danced with Charity in 2023, who narrated Us that Kaitlyn had stressed how much she would learn from the ballroom pro. They are still on good terms, with Charity congratulating Artem and Nikki on their second wedding anniversary in August 2024.

“Happy Birthday you two!!! So sweet,” Charity gushed via an Instagram comment, responding to Artem’s tribute to his wife.
