Fargo Police Investigate Possible Bomb Threat at Southside Walmart – InForum

FARGO — Fargo police are asking the public to avoid an area that includes the city’s South Walmart amid reports of a bomb threat.

Officers responded shortly after 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, to the Walmart at 3757 55th Ave. S. for a report of a bomb threat, according to dispatch records. The Fargo Police Department has not confirmed that there was a bomb threat.

The police department in social media posts asked the public to avoid the area from 38th Street South to Interstate 29 and 52nd Avenue South to 60th Avenue South until further notice.

The scene remained active as of 2:30 p.m., when a Forum reporter on the scene saw police blocking the entrances to the Walmart parking lot. Walmart employees were gathered in the southwest corner of the parking lot, and few vehicles remained at the store.

Our newsroom occasionally reports articles under a “staff” moniker. Often the designation “staff” is used when rewriting basic news that comes from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and that requires little or no reporting. Sometimes this description is used when a story includes multiple authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If external sources are used, they are noted in the story.
