Man convicted of drunk driving charged in new case | News

A man who was convicted of drunk driving earlier this year has been charged in a new case, according to a magistrate’s complaint filed in Superior Court.

William Junior Singeo was charged with driving while impaired as a misdemeanor, the complaint states.

He has a previous conviction for driving while intoxicated with a court order issued on March 20, the documents show.

Around 1:13 a.m. on August 30, an officer saw a Toyota Tacoma driving at a high rate of speed along Route 8 in Maite. The officer activated the patrol car’s emergency lights and made a U-turn to conduct a traffic stop on the Tacoma, which began weaving between lanes of traffic, the complaint states.

Other vehicles were observed braking to avoid a collision, eventually the Tacoma pulled into the Subway parking lot and stopped.

When the officer approached the vehicle, he noticed a strong odor of marijuana and alcohol about ten feet away. The operator, Singeo, spoke as if his mouth was dry and his speech was slurred, the documents show.

Singeo refused to take a standardized field sobriety test, but admitted to drinking “a twelve pack” and smoking “maybe a few joints,” according to the complaint.

He was released on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond, according to documents from the attorney general’s office.
