Anderson Julio powered Real Salt Lake to a late first inning en route to a 2-0 victory over the New England Revolution on Saturday night in Sandy, Utah.

Julio’s first-half overtime goal and Philip Quinton’s first RSL tally early in the second half were enough to spark an offense that had gone cold in recent games.

Real Salt Lake (13-6-8, 47 points) was canceled by San Jose a week ago as the team tries to adjust to personnel and roster changes.

Gavin Beavers, a 19-year-old goalkeeper for Real Salt Lake, scored his third shutout by making two saves.

New England (8-15-2, 26 points) couldn’t duplicate the type of performance that led to a 5-0 victory over CF Montreal a week earlier. Aljaz Ivacic made eight saves.

Real Salt Lake generated 20 shot attempts, but it was a New England blunder that led to the game’s first goal.

Julio intercepted a New England backfield pass and moved into position to convert that turnover. Ivacic had no chance to make a stop after the lopsided sequence.

Julio’s seventh goal of the season ended his seven game scoreless streak. Julio is one goal away from a career high for goals set in 2021.

Braian Ojeda assisted Quinton’s goal.
