Speaking in an interview, Michael Chandler opened up about his doubts when it comes to fighting Conor McGregor. He explained:

“He (my inner voice) doesn’t think I deserve this fight (with Conor). But I do. He never would have, man, he never would have, and I think we all have that boy or girl inside of us. And it’s okay to have them. And I think it’s okay to talk about it.

“It feels more authentic and more genuine: talking about your struggles, talking about your shortcomings, talking about your doubts, because if you act like you’re impenetrable and bulletproof, that’s an untouchable psychology . I hear the doubters and I hear the naysayers and I hear the haters of course.

“But we keep moving forward, and even if that little guy in that little town doesn’t think we were made to create this crazy life that we have. We pat them on the back and say, it’s okay. Just keep coming. We will continue to climb.”

He concluded with:

“I definitely learned how to silence my (inner voice) more. I was a small boy from a small town who was taught to do small things and I think there are so many people who resonate with that message…

“I was angry with the boy for a very long time and then once I started to recognize him and became friends with him and realized that there are many great things that I have accomplished and great things that- i acquired in this life because of him. I stopped hating it and started embracing it and enjoying the ride. And we’re on this journey together.”
