Disabled semi truck causes miles of backup on I-17 near Black Canyon City

BLACK CANYON CITY, AZ (AZ Family)— Drivers heading to the high country for the holiday weekend may need to adjust their commute.

Saturday, the Arizona Department of Public Safety reported that a semi truck was stuck on Interstate 17, blocking the right northbound lane near Bumble Bee Road.

DPS says a tow truck is on the way. However, this caused a traffic backup of about 16 miles on the highway from Black Canyon City to Anthem.

The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising drivers to expect delays and take alternate routes.
