UFC veteran Vince Morales makes a rare must-see appearance

Former UFC bantamweight Vince Morales had an impressive run on the regional stage and added a rarely seen performance to his highlight reel.

At United Fight League 5, Morales (16-7) faced fellow UFC veteran Hunter Azure (11-4) for the promotion’s bantamweight title at Gila River Resorts & Casino in Chandler, Arizona.

In round 3, Morales rolled Azure up on the mat, diving into a modified Peruvian tie to get the tap at 4:06.

Check out the video of the finale below:

The Peruvian tie is so rare that it has only been pulled twice in the UFC.

CB Dollaway was the first, pinning Jesse Taylor at UFC Fight Night 14 in July 2008. The second appearance was by Misha Cirkunov, who submitted Jimmy Crute at UFC Fight Night 158 in September 2019.

It happened once under the Bellator banner in June 2011 when Pat Curran choked Luis Palomino at Bellator 46.

Morales left the UFC in November 2019 following a unanimous decision loss to Miles Johns, ending a 3-5 run with the promotion. Since then, he has been seemingly untouchable. The win over Azure extended his current winning streak to five, including four finishes.
