Granville Blue Aces Boys Cross Country Races at Hilliard Davidson

Cohen Stump ran a time of 16 minutes, 20.86 seconds to place 27th Saturday for the Granville boys cross country team at the Hot Summer Bash at Hilliard Davidson.

Callum Sproul was 40th (16:41.34) and Benjamin Rose 50th (16:51.86), giving the Blue Aces three runners under 17 minutes. Logan Miller finished 100th (17:27.79).

Poling is moving up

Sophia Poling ran a time of 19:43.56 to place sixth for the Granville girls, who placed sixth out of 18 teams at the Westerville North XC Classic.

Newark’s Meredith Pyle followed in 23rd (21:01.76), the Granville trio of Elsa Tennessen (26th, 21:11.29), Lily Kronk (40th, 21:30.49) and June Landry (48th, 21:45.01) and Katie Newar (‘s) 52nd, 21:55.79).

In the boys race, Heath’s Ryan Baker placed 25th (17:02.82) and Newark’s Luca Stukey was not far behind in 37th (17:33.83). Heath’s Jacob Lane followed in 52nd (17:51.46) and Newark’s Jack Crouse in 71st (18:27.26).

Lott makes the top 10

Pierce Lott’s time of 16:44.3 earned 10th place to lead Watkins Memorial at the Mel Brodt Invitational at Bowling Green.

Ethan Martinez (21st, 17:04.0), Connor Black (32nd, 17:29.4) and Bobby Cisek (47th, 17:45.3) followed Lott for the Warriors, who placed fifth out of 32 teams.

The Watkins girls also placed fifth out of 29 teams. Emily Whitmer (22nd, 21:03.5), Avalyn Hines (35th, 21:28.3), Ava Moore (58th, 22:02.0) and Kiiera Holloway (66th, 22:11.4) led the Warriors.

The NC girls take fifth

Therese Fullenkamp’s time of 23:24.63 placed 24th and led the pack for the Newark Catholic girls, who finished fifth out of 12 scoring teams and 20th overall during the Newcomerstown Invitational.

Cecilia Geiger followed in 31st (23:59.63) and Ela Valenzuela in 34th (24:05.70) for the Green Wave.

For the boys, Chris Geiger placed 11th (18:07.15) and Joseph Lepi followed in 22nd (18:32.76).

Beverick moves into the top 5

Cameron Beverick crossed the finish line in a time of 16:52.90 for the Johnstown boys to take fourth at Highland’s Flying Scots CC Invitational.

Northridge’s Ben Hilton placed 19th (18:05.31).

In the girls race, Northridge’s Cheyann Severance finished 29th (22:35.72) and Johnstown’s Allison Bonito took 32nd (22:43.53).

GOLF BOYS

Granville ranks third

Samuel Pfau shot an 81 at Oak Shadows to lead Granville to a third-place finish during the Dover Invitational.

Chase Holtzapple and Brogan Burgett each added 86 and Alex Organ 87 for the Blue Aces, who totaled 340.

Kieber shoots 76

Bobby Kieber shot a 76 at Westchester to tie for fourth for Newark Catholic during the Bob Darwin Invitational at Bexley.

Johnstown’s Will Taylor tied for 12th at 77, and NC’s Brogan Sullivan and Johnstown’s Braeden Archibald each shot a 78. NC’s Charlie Doehring followed with an 80 and Johnstown’s Keaton Archibald an 86.

Cave leads Watkins

Christian Cave shot 80 at Pine Hill for Watkins Memorial during the Pine Hill Invitational at Pickerington North.

Kaden Ross added 82 and Adler McClintock 85 for the Warriors.

VOLLEY-BALL

Johnstown wins on the road

Kylie Sharp had 15 kills, five aces and five blocks to lead Johnstown to its third straight victory, defeating host Fredericktown 25-17, 29-27, 24-26, 25-20.

Audrey McCrady added 13 kills, Lauren Heimerl 10 kills, Ava Ruffle 27 assists and Luciana Smith 25 digs for the Johnnies (4-4).

Northridge sweeps

McKenna Ellis and Naia Moore led the offensive charge for Northridge in a 25-22, 25-22, 25-20 win at Amanda-Clearcreek.

Taryn Eblin and Courtney BeVier led the defense for the Vikings (5-4).

GIRLS FOOTBALL

Yanka drives Heath

Sophia Yanka had 20 saves for Heath (0-5) in a 3-0 loss to Bishop Hartley (3-3).

Northridge falls by the wayside

Host Bishop Ready (2-1-1) scored twice in the first half off corner kicks, sending Northridge (2-3) to a 2-0 loss.

Newark drops the road game

Host Ashland (2-2-1) scored three goals in the first half as Newark (2-1) eventually fell 4-0.

Newark loses the home game

Newark (1-4-1) couldn’t overcome a fast start from Bishop Hartley (2-1-1), falling 5-0.
