Man shoots alleged intruder in downtown Phoenix

PHOENIX (AZ Family) — An alleged intruder is in the hospital after being shot by a homeowner he allegedly attacked in downtown Phoenix Saturday morning.

Around 4 a.m., Phoenix police were called to a shooting near 11th and Filmore streets, just north of Van Buren Street.

According to police, the caller said he shot an intruder who attacked him.

The suspect fled shortly after being shot, but officers were able to locate and apprehend him.

The suspect was transported to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury.

An investigation is underway. It is not known if the owner will be charged.
