Two charged after driving through the flock of geese

HARLAN, Ky. (WYMT) – Two men have been charged after they intentionally drove their trucks into a flock of Canada geese.

The incident happened in the Village Center Mall parking lot in Harlan.

According to Kentucky Fish and Wildlife law enforcement, on Aug. 19, district rangers were contacted by Harlan City Police about injured geese in the lot.

After conducting an investigation and speaking with witnesses, law enforcement determined that two men intentionally drove through the herd.

One of the geese died on the spot. Another was taken to a rehabilitation facility in Hazard, where he later had to be euthanized due to his injuries.

The two men were charged with illegal taking of migratory birds and cruelty to animals.

The names of the individuals have not been released.
