Bainbridge High School football game moved to Thursday night

BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WCTV) – There won’t be Friday night lights in Bainbridge this week, as originally planned. Instead, it’ll be Thursday night.

The Bearcats have moved up their scheduled home game against Tift County from 7:30 pm Friday to 7:30 pm Thursday.

Weather is the big concern. WCTV’s First Alert Weather team is forecasting widespread rain and possible thunderstorms on Friday. Rain is also expected in parts of our area Thursday, but the chances are lower than they are for Friday.

The Bearcats’ game against the Blue Devils marks the return of Jeff Littleton to Bainbridge. The state title-winning coach left the Bearcats in February to take the Tift County job.

Littleton piled up a school-record 91 wins in 11 seasons with the purple and gold. He also led Bainbridge to the 2018 5A state championship.

Both Bainbridge and Tift County have struggled so far this season. The Bearcats are still looking for their first win under new head coach Jay Walls. Littleton is 1-2 with the Blue Devils.

Thursday night’s game is a purple out at Centennial Field. It’s more than just a display of Bearcat pride — it’s also a show of support for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Bainbridge.

WCTV Sports will be at the game and have the highlights on Eyewitness News at 11.
